Omori Europe B.V. and Selo opt for specialisation

On Thursday 18 June 2015, Japan-based Omori Machinery Co. Ltd signed a strategic collaboration agreement with Oldenzaal-based Selo. The move by Omori (Japan) to become a joint shareholder in Selo intensified the partnership established back in 1980.

Selo previously represented the Omori brand and sold the company’s horizontal flow packers, so establishing Omori Europe B.V. was the next logical step. The objectives included further expanding the globalisation strategy of Omori Japan and becoming a global market leader in flow packers.

We are now 3 years down the line, and both Selo and Omori Europe B.V. (both located at the same address) have grown considerably. As a result, a decision was made to focus on further specialising both companies; Selo in processing machines and Omori Europe in packaging machines.

Divisions in Hengelo and Oldenzaal

Selo purchased business premises in Hengelo on 1 May. This means the company will have more opportunities to further specialise in processing machines and processing systems. Selo will be run by existing director Willibrord Woertman (see https://www.selo.nl) and the new division will offer it excellent growth possibilities. Selo Verpakking – market leader in the Netherlands and Belgium when it comes to synthetic cases – will remain in Oldenzaal and have its own site featuring production facilities.

Omori Europe B.V. will also remain in Oldenzaal. Renovation work at the premises on the Eektestraat will start on 1 May. The existing building will be given a completely new look, which is consistent with the image of the organisation. The company will expand its range of packages and packaging machines and fully exploit its extensive knowledge in this field when doing so.

Jeroen Mulder and Maureen Geeraths, who are directors at Omori Europe B.V. and jointly own the current company and Selo, will be running the company. The many years of packaging experience they gained during their time at Selo will now be used at Omori Europe B.V. in order to realise similar success. Existing CFO Gerwin Ooms will be responsible for financial management at both companies. Woertman, Mulder, Geeraths and Ooms are all shareholders in Omori Europe B.V. as well as Selo.

Even better services for customers

Omori Europe B.V. sells packaging solutions, packaging machines like the stand-up pouches machine (incl. Unox soup in stand-up pouch), flow packers (incl. the very successful resealable packagings, like those found in supermarkets), tea machines and stick packers. The company thus specialises in all disciplines, and has its own engineering and control departments, as well as a technical services department with service engineers who are available to customers 24/7. All necessary know-how under one roof.

The premises in Oldenzaal offer a surface area in excess of 4000 m2, which can now be efficiently used for the production of flow wrappers and complete packaging lines. Customers can also test machines in the new demonstration area.

As of 1 September, Selo and Omori Europe B.V. will have their offices and production activities in Hengelo as well as Oldenzaal, which means they will be able to offer customers even better service in the future.
